Manchester City's Slovakian winger Vlamir Weiss has signed a new deal that ties him to Eastlands until 2012.
The 20-year-old, who joined City four years ago, has made three appearances in the Carling Cup this season, scoring in the 3-0 victory over Arsenal.
"I came here to realise my first-team ambitions and this shows that academy players can progress," Weiss said.
City boss Mark Hughes added: "He has come on in leaps and bounds this season and has the temperament for big games."
Weiss made his debut as a substitute in City's 1-0 victory over Bolton in the last Premier League game of last season.
He has remained on the fringe of the first-team this campaign and has appeared as a substitute on three occasions to help City set up a Carling Cup semi-final against rivals Manchester United.
Hughes added on the club's website: "He has all the attributes that electrify crowds and that can turn matches and we look forward to his further development."
