Hoeness - Muller not ready

Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness believes it is too early to call his side's new striker sensation Thomas Muller into the national team.
Muller put Bayern on their way to a 2-1 win at Freiburg on Saturday in front of Germany coach Joachim Low, who has already hinted that Muller will be in his next squad selection. But Hoeness would prefer it if the 19-year-old was left out of the Nationalmannschaft so he could concentrate on his development at club level.
"The national team is good enough to play at the World Cup without Thomas Muller," he said.
Muller has scored three times for Bayern so far this season, but more impressive is the fact that he has become the established name on Louis van Gaal's team sheet while the likes of Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez fight it out to avoid sitting on the bench.
However, Hoeness feels Muller has not yet done enough to prove he is good enough to represent Germany and that Low should be patient rather than call him up for the friendlies against Chile and Egypt next month.
He said: "No sooner has he scored three goals than he is supposed to play in the national team.
"If I had played like him for one full season, the Germany coach Helmut Schon would have taken me to one side and said if I continue playing like that, then I might make it into the national team in the near future."
Muller himself appears to be keeping his feet on the ground despite the clamour for him to be called up by Low.
"I am only concentrating on FC Bayern and anything else would be a bonus which I would be glad to take," he told ARD television.
