Giggs - Not expecting United to call me

Thursday, August 30 2018 by 7MTV
  • SOUNDBITE (English): Ryan Giggs, Wales manager and former Manchester United player:

"I think just purely coming from, you know, me being a United fan, I was there on Monday... I think it's a time for the fans to stick together and get behind the club, get behind the team, get behind the manager, get behind the coaching staff, that's me purely speaking as a fan. I think it's a tough time at the moment, but we've had tough times before and we've come through it, so... They've got a tough game at the weekend. Actually, when I was assistant, Burnley was one of the games where I was setting up the cones before the game and I was thinking 'I wouldn't mind playing today'. There wasn't many times I thought like that, but you walk out the tunnel, the United fans are surrounded around the tunnel and it was one of them games when I thought 'Yeah, I wish I was playing today'. So it's a fantastic game to get rid of all that negativity around the club. It's a tough game, but I mean yeah, purely speaking as a fan I hope we come through it sooner rather than later and yeah, I'm sure we will eventually."

Reporter: ''You're 12-1 to succeed Jose (Mourinho). Are you expecting a call any time soon?''

Giggs: "No, I'd keep your money in your pocket if I was you. You normally do that anyway, don't you?"
