Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri discussed his summer transfer plans on Thursday (5th May) after being crowned as English Premier League champions
SOUNDBITE: (English) Claudio Ranieri, Leicester City manager (on how confident he is that the club can keep hold of the players):
"I am very, very confident. I suggest to all my players, stay one year more. Stay with us one year more. Don't go. The kit man of the other teams... it's much better you stay here, you can play here. If you go maybe to another bigger team, maybe you make the luggage, no? You don't go on the pitch."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Claudio Ranieri, Leicester City manager (on bookmakers already offering 40-1 on Leicester retaining the Premier League title and whether he should have a bet on his team):
"Well, I don't believe the bookmakers! This season, they make big mistakes from the team from the manager (laughs), it's ok."
(Q: Does winning the Premier League make it easier or more difficult to attract some very big names here in the summer?)
"No, I don't want the big names here. I don't want to break my dressing room, my lads are special. And of course, we have to make, to bring, to buy, some good players, but whoever arrives must have the same spirit. It's (big names) not important. I said to my players, it's not important, the name of the opponent. It's not important the name of the club of the opponent, we go there and we fight and I want to continue with this philosophy. We want to grow up together, that is our philosophy."
