Martinez: 'Consistency will key to a top four finish'

  • Everton manager Roberto Martinez spoke on Thursday (11th February) ahead of his side's weekend English Premier League clash with West Brom.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roberto Martinez, Everton manager (on if they can achieve a top four finish this season):

"At the moment it's impossible to tell. This is the widest and most open league I've seen in seven seasons. What is important now is the momentum we have, the last three performances have been very consistent, we've been able to reflect the dominance on the games with really strong scorelines. I think it's all down to whether we can maintain this in the next 13 games, the answer is very much how strong can we be in the final third of the season. Everything you do in a league campaign is accumulating points until you go into the final third and then you see how good you can be in that period. Normally, historically we are a club that ends the season really strong. I feel the squad is in a good place mentally, full of confidence, the competition for places is the strongest since I've been a manager at Everton. I'm very much looking forward to the two challenges we have; looking at how many points we can have at the end of the season and the other one is how we address our home form and make Goodison Park a fortress."
