Yokohoma ruin riot over Reds

  • Yokohama F Marinos trounced former champions Urawa Reds 4-0 in the J League on Saturday.

    Fourth-placed Urawa Reds were on the road as they took on ninth-placed Yokohma F Marinos in J League action on Saturday.

    And it was Yokohoma who took the lead just before the half hour mark. Captain and former Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura's brilliant free kick making it 1-0.

    And just moments later, the hosts doubled their lead.

    Manabu Saito taking advantage of defender Tomoaki Makino's slip to collect Sho Ito's cross to add the second.

    And he carried that form through to the second half to add Yokohoma's third goal with just under an hour on the clock.

    Moments later, Fabio, was on hand to head in Shunsuke Nakamura's corner to make it 4-0.

    The win sees Yokohoma move up to fifth spot while the Reds slipped down to eighth.
