  • Intro:

Burnley boss Sean Dyche says referee Mike Jones should have shown Kevin Mirallas a red card for his challenge on the Clarets' George Boyd in Burnley's 1-0 defeat by Roberto Martínez's Everton in the Premier League.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Sean Dyche, Burnley manager (on refereeing decisions against his side):

"The biggest one is the (Kevin) Mirallas challenge, it's impossible that he stays on the football pitch and - I must make it clear - I don't think he's that type of player, so there's no angle at all about the player, it's purely the challenge. Impossible you stay on the football pitch for a challenge like that. And then 10 v 10, changes the whole feel. The crowd were sort of nervous a little bit, we were edging back into it, 10 v 11, we kept the two strikers on, we were progressive in our play looking to get something on the counter. And 10 v 10 you've got to fancy it's more even and back to us possibly going to get something from the game."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roberto Martinez, Everton manager (on the game):

"I was very pleased with the overall performance. I know that the scoreline shows you a very good clean sheet and a good goal, but overall we had over 20 attempts, I think we should have scored. We had enough opportunities to do that, even with a penalty. And then it was always the respect that we have towards Burnley, the way that they can create chances out of very little. They've got real presence up front, Danny Ings is a very clever footballer and when they've got the ball they work it really well. And we restricted them to one shot on target. I think playing against 10 men sometimes can be very dangerous and I thought we coped with that really well. We never left ourselves exposed, which could easily happen, and it was a matter of keeping the concentration, defending well, keep that clean sheet and try to score the second goal. But overall we don't take anything for granted and very important to win a game like this."
