Czech Olympian Katerina Nash claimed her first World Cup cyclo-cross victory of the season in Namur, Belgium on Sunday.

Reigning world champion Marianne Vos was 34 seconds off the pace and well beaten into second, while Katie Compton took third, over a minute behind Nash.

But Nash, emerging from the group of chasers, managed to close the gap, even overcoming a crash into the mesh fencing at the side of the course.

It was the first cyclo-cross race of the season for Vos, who initially looked set to power to victory.

A visibly tiring Vos was unable to keep pace with her Czech rival over the final few laps, and when a rut in the mud sent her wheel flying into the mesh netting, her chances faded even further.

Nash continued her assault and increased the gap all the way to secure an emphatic victory.

Further back, World Cup leader Sanne Cant finished sixth and just holds on to the leader's jersey, one point ahead of Compton going into round five.
