Late goal gives Standard Liege dramatic 1-0 win over Cercle Brugge in the Belgium Pro League on Wednesday (October 29).

    Script:

Two low scoring sides met in the Belgian Pro League for their midweek fixture.

Hosts Cercle Brugge went into the match in 13th place with just 12 points from 12 games. Liege were ninth and only three points ahead of their opposition.

The first chance of the match came from Cercle on the twenty minute mark.

Dutch striker Joey Godee made a darting run down the right flank before crossing to Stipe Bacelic-Grgic - who should have hit the target from close range.

15 minutes later the pendulum swung the other way - however this time it was Liege's Jeff Louis who should have hit the target when well place. It looked easier to score.

After a turgid second half a goal finally came with just three minutes left on the clock.

Scottsman Tony Watt played a neat one-two with Geoffrey Mujangi Bia, before firing home from close range.

Deep into injury time Cercle went in search of the equaliser - but Yohann Thuram made a cool save to effectively guarantee his side the 1-0 win.
