Williams bounces back by beating Bouchard

Serena Williams bounced back from the heaviest defeat of her professional career to hammer Eugenie Bouchard 6-1, 6-1 at the WTA Tour Championships in Singapore on Thursday (October 23rd).

    Script:

Having suffered her heaviest defeat in 16 years on Wednesday losing in straight sets, Serena Williams had a determined look on her face as she walked on to court to face Eugenie Bouchard in the WTA Tour Championships.

Williams is seeking her third successive Tour Championships title and fifth in total, and she was clearly looking make amend.

The top seed made light work of Bouchard.

The Canadian held her serve in the opening game, but that was her only success as top seed Williams forced three subsequent breaks to take the opening set 6-1.

Not content to ease up on the number five seed, Williams picked up another break in the second game of the second set and there was only one likely outcome from that position.

Bouchard had no reply to the American's onslaught and was eventually beaten 6-1, 6-1.

Williams now has a record of two wins and one defeat in the WTA Tour Championships' Red Group and she will advance to the semi-finals as long as Simona Halep, who beat Williams so convincingly, avoids a straight sets defeat to Ana Ivanovic on Friday.
