David Ferrer and Andy Murray were both in action at the Valencia Open, looking to make the quater-finals of the competiton.

Ferrer, a three-time champion in Valencia, used his tenacious ground game to force Fernando Verdasco into errors and took the first set when his opponent sent a shot into the net, taking it 6-3.

A frustrated Verdasco offered little resistance after that as Ferrer recorded his sixth straight win against his countryman.
He took the match 6-3, 6-2.

Murray had a similar match against Fognini.

The Italian served four doubles faults and committed 20 unforced errors in the first set. Murray taking it 6-2.

He then broke Fognini again to move ahead 3-2 in the second set before closing out the match when Fognini committed his 36th unforced error by netting a return. 6-2, 6-4.

Murray, who won here in 2009, will face seventh-seeded Kevin Anderson of South Africa next.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Andy Murray:(on next opponent, Kevin Anderson of South Africa)

"Yeah it will be tough. He is good indoors, he likes the conditions. He got a walkover in his match today so he will be fresh going into that one. So I expect a tough match and hopefully I can play well and make it difficult for him."
