    Mikko Ilonen defeated top-seeded Henrik Stenson 3-and-1 to win the World Match Play Championship on Sunday (19th October).

    Script:

    The morning semi-finals of the World Match Play Championship saw Mikko Ilonen end the only unbeaten run of the weekend, that of Joost Luiten's.

    Ilonen defeating the Dutchmen with this putt on 17 to take the match up 2 and 1.

    Favourite for the title, Henrik Stenson was taking on wildcard George Coetzee.

    1 Down at the 15th, the Swede found this 20 footer to level up the match.

    With th South African missing his birdie putt at the last, the World No 5 had this putt to move into the final.

    Onto the afternoon's action at the London Golf Club and Stenson took an early lead with a birdie on the fourth.

    Then the Finn moved ahead, here birding the par 3 8th to move one up.

    Ilonen was two up going down the 17th, he appeared to overshoot his approach. Whether he meant it or not, it put him in great position for the title.

    Stenson knew he needed to hole his birdie attempt otherwise Illonen had two for it.

    He didn't, and with that the World No 52 secured his biggest win of his career to date,
