  • Intro:

Spain won the LPGA Tour's inaugural International Crown on Sunday (July 27).

    Script:

The first-ever, match play International Crown came to a close on Sunday at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland.

The format saw the top five teams after Saturday's play advance to singles action on Sunday.

And Spain proved to be the dominant force throughout the final day.

Beatriz Recari never trailed in her match against Mikaela Parmlid and beat the Swede 3&2.

The surprise of the day was Carlota Ciganda, controlled her match against 2012 U.S. Women's Open winner Na Yeon Choi.

Ciganda has failed to finished higher than 15th this year on the U.S. Tour but she stormed to an 8&6 victory over Choi.

That meant that Belen Mozo had a chance to clinch the title for Spain with a win over Moriya Jutanugarn of Thailand and she did just that.

Azahara Munoz completed the Spanish sweep with a 3&2 win over Ai Miyazato

The Crown will be played next in 2016 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois, host of the 2009 Solheim Cup.
