    Manchester United confirmed on Tuesday morning (22nd April) that manager David Moyes had been sacked, only 10 months and 22 days after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

    Manchester United have sacked manager David Moyes after just 10 months in the job.

    On Monday there had been widespread speculation on Moyes future on Monday with several national newspapers suggesting the club's owners had already made their decision to relieve the Scotsman of his duties.

    Manchester United gave official confirmation on the sacking this morning. Moyes had initially signed a six year contract and will be due substantial compensation as a result of his sacking.

    The former Everton boss has endured a torrid time as manager at old Trafford, after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired in the summer. Last season's Champions currently lie 7th in the Premier League table.

    Bookmakers are already looking to the future with Borussia Dortmund's Jurgen Klopp and current Holland manager Louis Van Gaal favourites to take over at the helm.

    Recent unrest has been felt across the Man Utd fanbase and a particularly disgruntled group of supporters flew over Old Trafford with a banner conveying the their thoughts.
