Cristiano Ronaldo will miss out on at least £5million in bonuses at the end of his first season back at Manchester United.

The Reds star, 37, took a significant pay cut when re-joining the club from Juventus last summer - with his basic £800,000 weekly wage in Serie A dropping to £450,000-a-week in England. In order to make up the difference, Ronaldo negotiated a number of significant add-ons in his two-year contract.

But most of those potential windfalls have already been wiped amid the club’s desperate showing on both the European and domestic fronts. United crashed out to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this month. Had they won it, Ronaldo stood to pocket £2.5m. Throw in other personal bonuses related to the Premier League, from lifting the title to a top-four finish, and that sum evading the Portuguese playmaker doubles.

The only category Ronaldo appears certain to collect on is as the club’s top scorer in 2001-22. He has bagged 18 goals in all competitions to date. That’s NINE more than United’s next highest scorer, compatriot Bruno Fernandes.

The ex-Real Madrid and Sporting ace is now the game’s all-time greatest goalscorer. That followed his recent double in United’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham, which took his career total for clubs and country - in FIFA-recognised matches - to an astonishing 807.

During his first spell at the club, between 2003 and 2009,, Ronaldo hit the net 118 times in 292 outings before moving to Real Madrid. At the Bernabeu, he then became even more prolific, with a staggering 451 goals in just 431 appearances.
