Manchester City Midfielder Rodri Proves He Is Not Your Typical Footballer By Completing Business Degree

Manchester City midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez has once again proved he is not your typical footballer by completing a degree in business administration and management.

The Spaniard enrolled on a Business Studies and Economics course at Castellon University and stayed in student accomodation while he was playing professionally in La Liga for Villarreal.

And even as his career has progressed to the point where he's a regular for City under Guardiola and a fully fledged Spain international, education has remained key for Rodri.

He used the lockdown period to get stuck into his studies and actually had an viva test (oral exam) mere days after Spain's Euro 2020 opener with Sweden in the summer.

And in the same year that he won the Premier League for the first time, he is at the very end of his degree.

"I am finished. I just have to do a last essay, a small essay, but all the subjects, the big essay at the end is done," the former Atletico Madrid man told Manchester City's official website.

"It was tough work, but at the end it was nice.

"You have time for everything. Of course, it is a very demanding profession as a footballer because it demands you not only playing, training and the games, it is also the rest and the care you have to take about yourself.

"Imagine you come back to your home at three o'clock so you have all the afternoon free. You can do many other things.

"Of course, you cannot follow the rhythm of the other students but with patience, with dedication you can do it."

As per Sky Sports, Rodri's father wanted him to learn English as a youngster and so he was sent to America and Ireland on foreign exchange programmes.

When he spoke with Spanish newspaper Marca prior to the European Under-21 Championship in 2017, it became clear that Rodri was balancing football and education as he was spotted with a ball under one arm and a pile of books on the other.

He is a man of simple pleasures. On the pitch he plays the game in an uncomplicated fashion with his shirt neatly tucked in, and off it he's not fussed about social media, tattoos, jewellry or expensive cars.

At one point, his vehicle of choice was a second-hand Vauxhall Corsa he bought off an elderly woman.

"His car, until recently, was a second hand Opel Corsa which he bought from a woman when he got his driving licence," " Valentin Henarejo, his friend, recalled in a chat with MARCA.

"They advised him to buy a better one for his safety and the journeys from Madrid to Castellon, but he didn't understand why he would spend so much on a car.

"In fact, one time he told me that some friends were 'crazy' for buying nice cars, all that mattered was that it takes you from A to B and that's all."
