Paris hotel where Lionel Messi is staying has been robbed

Whilst the Messi family were close to finalising their move to a rented house in Paris, the hotel in which they were temporarily staying at has been robbed.

Le Royal Monceau was robbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning with the assailants managing to break into several of the rooms.

According to a report published by The Sun, the robbers snuck into the hotel undetected via the roof, before they descended onto a balcony with an open window and climbed in.

In the same report a Moroccan man confirmed his watch had been stolen whilst there were three others robberies reported to the police. Another victim found a items worth over 5,000 euros had vanished from her room.

"To pay a fortune for somewhere fancy and secure and have someone walk in your room is very disturbing," the female victim said.

"The police told us they saw two men with a bag on the roof on CCTV cameras but they could not identify them. They said three other robberies were also reported. A Moroccan guy in the next room told me he had his watch stolen."

Since the incident, security has been increased around the hotel with crash barriers put up around the building on Wednesday.
