Puma apologise to Dortmund fans for jersey mistake

Puma have made an attempt to stand out with their 2021/22 third kits, yet there has been a negative backlash with players attempting to kiss a shirt without a badge and fans being unhappy with the lack of crest, and the sportswear company have now been forced to apologise to Borussia Dortmund fans.

The uproar stems from Dortmund's Champions League opener against Besiktas, in which the third kit was worn for the first time, paying homage to the lime-yellow design from 1997/1998, yet the fans were hugely annoyed that the club's badge wasn't included.

"We regret the anger of the fans and would like to apologise," Puma CEO, Bjorn Gulden, stated.

"The criticism from the fans relates to the fact that the BVB logo is simply incorporated several times in the tone-on-tone material and is engraved on the chest of the shirt, but it isn't clearly highlighted as the club's crest."

Borussia Dortmund attempted to fix the issue themselves, putting a transfer stamp of the logo on each shirt, but this solution didn't work as it wasn't the same colour, furthermore the club couldn't use another shirt as they had already registered their selection with UEFA.
