NAKED AMBITION Germany’s naked football team challenge England to strip off for grudge match after Euros humiliation

The Nacktionalmannschaft - a pun on the German words for “nude” and “national team” only took to the field for the first-time last weekend.

But they have already have set their sights set on a face-off in England, where they hope they will find some stiff competition.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, team organiser Gerrit Starczewski, 34, labelled the opportunity to take his team to the "motherland of football” as a “dream” – calling out any potential challengers.

He said: “We hope English people are crazy enough to have a naked match between England and Germany and that they would relish the idea of being an official naked nations player!

"We love the English culture and this is the next step for our project.”

The team believe it would be a “fitting” way to take revenge after England knocked out Germany in this summer’s European Championships.

It was the first time they done so in a knockout competition for 55 years. 

As such Gerrit joked that any naked 11 v 11 on English soil would be “the match of the year.”

His challenge comes just five years after he set up his first naked team in 2015.

Last year, The Sun reported that he had been using his side’s ever growing notoriety to protest against issues in football - including the commercialisation of the professional game.

He told us: “Football is for the fans and for the working class and not for the elite.

"The main message of my project is our stance against modern football and FIFA where I think there is too much commercialisation and too many foreign investors.

"We believe that football must be natural and when we are naked, we are natural.

His new look side, which he hopes he take internationally in the near future, made their debut at the weekend in what was described by Gerrit as “a furious display of artistry for connoisseurs.”

The side, which is comprised of both men and women aged 18-50, only wore boots and socks — with their numbers painted on their backs.

They played in front of a crowd of roughly 300 people.

Gerrt added: “The atmosphere was incredible, and the spectators were very respectful – which is important.

"Sure we can make a few jokes, but there is no body shaming here as we are all the same.”

The result between the Naked Team and the Pottoriginale All Stars ended in an 8-8 draw.
