Leeds have signed Daniel James from Manchester United - and they used a brilliant throwback to their Amazon documentary to announce the deal.

The Welshman has been announced as the club's Transfer Deadline Day arrival, making a move believed to be £20m.

It marks a long-awaited deal for the Whites, who had tried to sign the 23-year-old in January 2019 on the last day of the window before it fell through and he headed to United.

And Leeds have come up with a creative way of announcing the deal following their previous history.

The forward can be seen sitting at a table with the documentation for his transfer from Old Trafford ready.

Subtitles have been added over the image which say: "To save time, Dan James begins signing some of the paperwork"

It is a reference to a scene from the Amazon documentary 'Take Us Home: Leeds United', which looks at the club during their first year under Marcelo Bielsa.

Accompanying the edited image, the club said: "Nearly there with the paperwork..."

James had broken into Swansea's senior team in the first half of the 2018/19 season when Leeds first enquired about him.

And the 23-year-old expressed a desire to leave Wales on Transfer Deadline Day in January 2019, with an initial £10m deal agreed.

A medical had been completed and signing interview recorded - but a late disagreement saw the move fail to transpire before the 11am deadline.

Seeing out the season in Wales, he made a summer move to United.

While he was a regular in the first season, the emergence of Mason Greenwood saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer push him down the pecking order.

And the return of Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked the decision to move the youngster on, with 74 games and nine goals under his belt.

Speaking on his move to Elland Road, James said: "It feels great to get it over the line and I can now move forward.

"It’s been a whirlwind for me, it’s been a crazy time but I’m here now.

"I’m grateful for the club for being interested in me and believing in me, which is proven by what they did two and a half years ago.

"I’m happy to be here now and playing in front of these fans."

James is said to have been so angry following his failed Leeds move in 2019 that he "launched his phone".
