Arsenal and West Ham on alert as Chelsea reluctantly ‘slash’ Tammy Abraham asking price

Chelsea could reduce their audacious £40million asking price for striker Tammy Abraham with Arsenal and West Ham still reportedly eager to sign the England international

Arsenal and West Ham United will be on high alert as Chelsea prepare to slash their asking price for striker Tammy Abraham.

Both clubs have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old this summer but are put-off by the substantial £40million price-tag Chelsea have placed on their academy graduate.

The two London clubs are interested in the 6-foot-three forward but are unable to pay the hefty sum that is being demanded.

But the Sun now reports Chelsea are willing to reduce their unrealistic demands in order to attract a buyer and thereby finance moves for their own transfer targets.

Arsenal have been rumoured to be interested in Abraham with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continually misfiring in front of goal over the past season.

Gunners striker Alexandre Lacazette has also been linked with a move away from the North London club which has seen manager Mikel Arteta consider the Chelsea striker as a replacement.

Arteta and Arsenal have just spent a whopping £50million on defender Ben White and are unlikely to dish out another £40million on Abraham, meaning a reduced fee could be the only scenario where they do business with Chelsea.

Meanwhile, West Ham manager David Moyes is keen on signing the striker but has openly admitted they cannot afford to offer £40million for him.

Abraham is open to a move due to his lack of game-time under Blues coach Thomas Tuchel last season, having only played four Premier League games from February onwards.

The Chelsea boss clearly prefers other options like Kai Havertz and Timo Werner up-front which has left Abraham struggling for minutes.

With a transfer suiting all parties involved, Chelsea may very well accommodate for the move by accepting a lower bid before the window closes.
