Sergio Ramos on Mbappe: I would like him to stay at PSG

Sergio Ramos began training with his new Paris Saint-Germain teammates on Monday and he hopes Kylian Mbappe is one he'll continue to train with for some time to come.

The French forward is a dream target for Ramos' former club, Real Madrid, but while he would recommend a spell at Los Blancos one day, he hopes Mbappe will be staying put for now.

"I wouldn't dare say what someone should do, with my experience I could give him some advice in private," said Ramos to the Spanish media via video press conference.

"I would like him to stay at PSG because I like to play with the best.

"When you make the decision to stay or go, it's very personal."

Perhaps if Ramos had renewed with Real Madrid he might be thinking something different, but now he is certainly hoping Mbappe stays in Paris a while longer, while he feels he may be able to help him develop further.

"I don't know what Kylian has in mind, but he can make the difference," continued Ramos.

"He's very young, there's a very good team here and it needs great players.

"I can bring my winning spirit and if I can pass that on to the team it will have been a success."

Ramos' exit from Real Madrid, where he had become a legend, surprised many, but the 35-year-old has moved on and wasted no time analysing what could have been.

"Looking back is always a mistake, I'm an adventurer," said Ramos.

"The priority was to come to a great team and the treatment they gave me [here at PSG] was key.

"Getting out your comfort zone is always good for all involved and I'm very happy with the step I've taken."

While putting distance between himself and Real Madrid, not being drawn on the current controversies at the club, the former captain of Los Blancos did say he would never celebrate a goal against his former side.

Looking to the future and a new challenge, Mbappe is not the only star he is looking forward to lining up alongside. In Paris he will also be teaming up with one-time rival Neymar.

"I'm excited to play with both [Neymar and Mbappe]," noted Ramos.

"I have a great relationship with Neymar, and Kylian is playing at a super high level.

"What I want is to win and for us all to pull in the same direction. We're on the right path."

Ramos in a PSG shirt might take some getting used to, but it seems the Spaniard is relishing the fresh start and the chance to be a leader in a new challenge.
