Manchester United stance on Harry Kane swap deal with Tottenham - EXCLUSIVE

Manchester United have been linked with Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Manchester United aren’t planning a swap deal with Tottenham in order to sign Harry Kane, Express Sport understands. The England international has been linked with a move to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side ahead of the Euro 2020 final with Italy. But the Red Devils are focusing on other targets instead.

Kane wants to leave Tottenham.

The 27-year-old has grown tired of the north London giants’ failure to win trophies, with the striker yet to win any silverware throughout his career so far.

That could end on Sunday if England beat Italy to win Euro 2020 but, regardless, Kane feels the time is right to try his luck elsewhere.

Over the past 24 hours, a move to United has been talked up. Despite the Red Devils landing Jadon Sancho, they know they can’t rely on a 34-year-old Edinson Cavani for the long term.

With Kane one of the best strikers in world football, Solskjaer’s side could certainly be forgiven for targeting the Spurs marksman.

Yet Express Sport has been told that claims United are readying a swap deal are ‘nonsense’.

Instead, the Red Devils are prioritising the arrival of a new centre-back and central midfielder as they target Premier League title glory next time out.

At the back, Raphael Varane is being eyed.

United are making good progress on a deal for the France international, who is ready to leave Real Madrid after a decade of glittering service over in sunny Spain.

Paris Saint-Germain are also in the hunt but, having signed Sergio Ramos on a free transfer from Los Blancos, are now poised to look at other areas of their squad instead.

United have long admired Varane, with interest dating back to Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge.

And there’s a confidence over at Old Trafford the player will sign on the dotted line, a decade after he first turned them down.

In midfield, United are targeting a deal for Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga.

While some concerns exist over the talented 18-year-old, such as his maturity and lack of Premier League football, he’s very much their chosen target at the current moment in time.

West Ham star Declan Rice is also of interest but there’s a realisation the Hammers won’t let him leave on the cheap, with a fee of £100million previously mooted.

And whether United can add more players to their roster is something only time will tell, with Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton already snapped up.

Meanwhile, Kane has spoken about what playing in the final of Euro 2020 will mean to him - and also opened up on potentially matching Sir Bobby Moore by lifting a major trophy.

"Whenever your name is mentioned in the same company as players like that, it only gives you motivation, gives you confidence," said Kane.

"It will be an incredible achievement, we've all waited so long as players and the public as people to see us in the final. These are the opportunities to grab with both hands.

"We have an amazing chance to win our second major trophy as a country. The players we've had over the years and produced, we feel proud to be representing them as well.

"We've got to be excited for it, we've got to enjoy it. We're all winners here, we all want to win. And we're going to need every bit of that to get the job done on Sunday."

Kane also admitted it would be the biggest match of his career so far.

"It's the biggest game in my career so far," added the Tottenham star.

"Probably the biggest game of all our careers.

"Doing something special with England would probably surpass anything at club level just because of the magnitude, the long wait for a final, the long wait to win a trophy.

"At the moment, it doesn't feel too different.

"We've come back to camp, pretty much in the same routine we have been for the last few games. A bit of nerves, a bit of excitement. As the game gets closer, you're more focused."
