Both Los Blancos and PSG could move for the former Lille sporting director

Real Madrid have been linked with bringing Luis Campos back to the club for a few months now, with the Portuguese sporting director constructing a title-winning Lille side before leaving, and it is thought that he could play a key role in Los Blancos' pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

Campos, who was at Real Madrid during Jose Mourinho's time at the club, left for Monaco before assuming another director of football role at Lille, but it was at the principality club where he struck up a good relationship with those close to Mbappe.

"I spent three great years there [Real Madrid] and I had a very good relationship with the president [Florentino Perez] and the directors," Campos revealed in an interview with L'Equipe.

"But, for now, I can assure you that there is nothing [agreed] with anyone."

When the discussion switched to Mbappe, Campos recognised that he remains close to his family.

"It's true that I know the family well, since Kylian was 14 years old [Campos signed him for Monaco]," he noted.

"We have a great friendship, but that's all."

Leonardo has come under pressure as PSG's sporting director and there have been rumours that Campos could replace the Brazilian, but - as he did with any talk linking him to Real Madrid - he was quick to shoot it down.

"But why? Is Leonardo going to leave? I may be tough in negotiations, but I'm not a liar. I assure you that I have not spoken to anyone at PSG," Campos stated.

"I have my consultancy in Monaco. For now I am focused on that, nothing else. But I listen to everyone, I am 100 percent available."

L'Equipe, however, claim that PSG could use the same trick as Real Madrid and try to hire Campos in order to gain an advantage with regard to Mbappe's future. PSG are trying to get the 22-year-old to renew in order to fend off interest from Real Madrid.
