Italy have beaten Belgium in Euro 2020, thanks to one man in particular.

Nicolo Barella has proved why Liverpool are chasing his signature after a star display for Italy against Belgium. The Azzurri are through to the semi-finals of the tournament where they will face Spain at Wembley.

Klopp's ideal target has just put on a masterclass as Italy as Georginio Wijnaldum leaves the club to sign for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

The Dutchman saw his contract expire this month after five years at Liverpool and has decided to leave with interest in his services high.

Barcelona were the favourites to sign the midfielder with Ronald Koeman knowing him well through his time as Netherlands manager.

Wijnaldum will be difficult to replace after playing every Premier League match last season.

And the midfielder was in stunning form as Italy beat Belgium in their Euro quarter-final tie.

In a breathless match full of action, it was the ex-Cagliari ace that opened the scoring with some net footwork in the box and a thumping finish.

He gave Thibaut Courtois no chance as his effort went flying past the Real Madrid keeper.

Along with Jorginho, the duo were fantastic in defence too as they quelled the Belgian attack.

And that is no easy feat with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and the dangerous-looking Jeremy Doku giving it their all.

For Italy, they can feel fully justified to be in the final four of the Euros this summer and Barella has played a large part of that.

Roberto Mancini has several options in the middle of the pitch, with Barella joined by the likes of Marco Verratti, Manuel Locatelli, Jorginho and Bryan Cristante.

And Liverpool scouts will no doubt be keeping an eye on the 24-year-old, who has been valued at £60m.

Jurgen Klopp will know he will need to sign a midfielder to fill the gap that has been left behind by Wijnaldum.

Inter Milan will not want to lose one of their star players but their financial situation might force their hand.

The Reds are not the only ones to take an interest with Chelsea keeping an eye on the situation too.

That will mean Klopp might have to work quickly to secure his preferred target to replace Wijnaldum.
