Barcelona president Joan Laporta says Lionel Messi wants to stay at the club, and it is only financial regulations that are preventing them announcing a new contract.

Atletico Madrid close in on De Paul signing

Atletico Madrid have tabled a €28 million (£24m/$34m), plus bonuses, offer for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul as they look to finalise a move for the Argentine.

Goal Spain can confirm that Atleti will look to close the deal for a fee in the region of €30m (£26m/$36m)-€35m (£30m/$42m), despite Udinese wanting €40m (£34m/$48m).

De Paul will sign a five-year contract and receive a net salary of around €3m per season, with it now appearing that Saul Niguez will be allowed to leave.

Depay teases Barca move: I want to play for Koeman

Memphis Depay has suggested that a move from Lyon to Barcelona could be announced very soon after he admitted that he wants to play under Ronald Koeman.

Laporte dismisses story suggesting he doubts Man City future

Aymeric Laporte has dismissed a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo suggesting that he doubts his future at Manchester City and is dreaming of joining Barcelona.

Journalist Dani Gil had written that Laporte is unsettled at City due to being behind Ruben Dias and John Stones in the pecking order, suggesting that he would like a move to Barca.

However, Laporte tweeted in Spanish to react to the rumour, writing: "🤥🤥🤥 Dani, nobody has talked to you and nobody will talk to you."
