Maverick Marko Arnautovic appeared to forget how to celebrate a goal after his wild behaviour in Austria's Euro 2020 opener.

The ex-West Ham bad-boy came off the bench to seal an opening game victory against North Macedonia.

Despite making it 3-1, Arnautovic looked far from happy after rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home cooly.

Instead of cheering or simply enjoying the moment, the 32-year-old went on a wild rant.

His demeanour was certainly angry, and Arnautovic even had a word or two to say to North Macedonia players after scoring.

The forward, who began as a substitute, may well have been frustrated by not starting the match.

And he did himself no harm by scoring in the closing stages of the content, although his manager may have something to say back if Arnautovic's frustration was anything to do with not being selected.

Austria captain and Real Madrid summer signing David Alaba took it upon himself to try and quieten down the hot-head.

Alaba grabbed Arnautovic's face to try and close his mouth during the unconventional celebration.

Another of Arnautovic's team-mates gave him a little slap on his cheek too, but that only seemed to wind him up even more.

Eventually, the former Premier League star calmed down, and fans loved what they saw, demanding he returns to English football soon following two years away in China.

One fan commented on Twitter: "Arnautovic had violence in his mind for a second there when his teammate slapped him".

Another added: "That Arnautovic celebration reminded me of Balotelli's in 2012 Euros."

"Arnautovic celebrating a goal by nearly fighting his team-mates, that's why he's in my fantasy team," a third put.

"Arnautovic ain’t done with the streets just yet," a fourth wrote.

And a final fan put: "Marko Arnautovic coming off the bench, rounding the goalkeeper and scoring the third goal, all while looking absolutely furious in the process. Bring this man back to the Barclays."
