Fernando Torres has taken up boxing as he aims to maintain his impressive physique.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker retired from professional football in 2019 and has taken a unique path since then.

Fans first became aware of Torres' new look at the start of this when the Spaniard announced he was becoming an ambassador for AW8- a Southeast Asian casino website.

In the promotional video shared on his Instagram, the 37-year-old looked totally different to his playing days and fans were shocked to see his physical transformation.

And now Torres has provided another update on his social media, informing his 8.4m followers that he has now taken up boxing.

Torres reportedly owns a number of gyms in the Spanish capital, where he played some of his final years in football with boyhood club Atletico Madrid.

The final two years of his career were spent in the Japanese first division for Sagan Tosu, playing 39 matches and scoring six times.

But his best years were undoubtedly at Anfield, where he became one of Europe's most feared strikers.

Torres scored 81 goals in 142 appearances for Liverpool before sealing a controversial £50million move to Chelsea in January 2011.

His goalscoring numbers for the Blues were far less impressive, though he was able to secure three trophies during his Stamford Bridge stay.

The 2011/12 season saw Torres win the FA Cup and Champions League as Chelsea completed a famous double, meanwhile he lifted the Europa League the following campaign.
