Bayern Munich have hit out at Hansi Flick after he went public with his desire to leave the German club on Saturday.

The Bundesliga champions beat Wolfsburg 3-2 yesterday but the action was overshadowed by Flick's full-time comments.

Speaking after the win, the Bayern chief told the press he had informed his players of his desire to leave the club this summer.

"I want to terminate my contract this summer, that is a fact," he said on live TV on Saturday.

"It was important to me that the team finds out about it from me personally. I already told the people in charge after our Champions League elimination during the week."

Hansi Flick has explained that he wants to leave Bayern Munich this summer following Tuesday's Champions League exit

But Bayern have fired back at the coach, releasing a statement of their own, accusing Flick of going against what they agreed in a board meeting this week by explaining his unhappiness.

"Informed yesterday Hansi Flick, the head coach of FC Bayern, informed the public about his wish to terminate his contract, which runs until June 2023, early at the end of the current season," the Bayern statement read.

"Hansi Flick had this with the board of FC Bayern München AG last week.

"Hansi Flick and FC Bayern agreed to focus on the games against VfL Wolfsburg, Bayer 04 Leverkusen (April 20th) and the 1. FSV Mainz 05 (April 24th) so as not to disturb the full concentration of the entire club on these three important games.

"FC Bayern disapproves of the unilateral communication by Hansi Flick and will continue the talks as agreed after the game in Mainz."

Rumours have rife of late that Flick had fallen out with senior members of the boardroom.

His relationship with Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has been particularly scrutinised of late

"I prefer harmony [to friction]. But there is never anything that is 100 per cent, so you have to accept both," Flick told reporters this week.

"But with harmony - I believe - the chances [of success] are more promising."
