The social media company sacked by Phil Foden over his controversial tweet to Kylian Mbappe insist the post was approved by the Manchester City ace and his representatives before it was sent.

Foden has severed ties with Ten Toes Media for calling out Mbappe on Twitter after City’s Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund this week, a victory which has set up a colossal semi-final showdown with the France superstar and Paris St-Germain.

Along with a picture of him scoring away at Dortmund, he wrote: “KMbappe are you ready”.

However, Foden was reportedly left seething with the post and swiftly deleted it from his account.

According to the Telegraph, the 20-year-old and his representatives felt it had been sent without their consent and was too confrontational towards Mbappe - widely considered one of the best players in world football.

That fury led to their decision to part company with Ten Toes Media, who previously took charge of Foden’s entire social media platforms.

But now the firm have hit back at Foden and his team, stressing that company policy is for every post to be approved in advance by the client or their representatives before it is sent out.

In a statement issued on Friday, Ten Toes Media founder Ben Weisfeld said: ”We are saddened with the current situation.

"Since the company was founded we have adopted a process which requires all posts to be approved in advance by the talent / representative – no exceptions.

"They always have been approved - that has been true for 4 years and is still true today.

"Phil Foden is a special person and footballer and we wish him the very best going forward."

Foden was not the only football star on Ten Toes Media’s books, with the likes of Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr also working with the company.
