Chelsea's transfer call between £100m Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice could backfire

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, though the Blues have a decision to make.

West Ham ace Declan Rice has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with both midfielders set to cost around £100m each.

Bellingham, 17, has impressed since joining Bundesliga giants Dortmund from Birmingham last summer.

Rice has shone as West Ham battle for a Premier League top four spot with the Hammers looking for a place in Europe next season.

Though Eurosport say Bellingham is the preferred target now for Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea look to strengthen in midfield this summer.

Bellingham is believed to be happy staying at Dortmund for another season, so may turn down Chelsea should they come calling.

The Blues may also find it tricky to sign Rice, if they choose to do so, especially if West Ham do qualify for Europe - and that could leave Tuchel empty handed.

Rice has history at Stamford Bridge, having been part of the Blues academy, with former manager Frank Lampard previously keen on signing him.

Indeed Lampard recently said: “We are fortunate to have him [Rice] in England. West Ham are fortunate to have him.

“He’s a leader and it is clear that he’s destined for great things.

“I have probably given it away with how I spoke about him, but I think it’s common knowledge that I was a big fan of his.

“It didn’t happen for various reasons, but we brought in a lot of players in the summer. But I was a big fan of him.

“For understandable reasons, West Ham know the player that they have on their hands.

“I don’t want Declan to be in an uncomfortable position through this because all I see from him is absolute performance and desire to play for West Ham.

“They gave him the chance there and the choice will be Declan’s as the years go ahead, but his performances are great to watch.”
