Maradona's lawyer: He was fighting with his daughters up until his death, he felt betrayed

Diego Maradona's lawyer, Matias Morla, has claimed that the former Napoli star's daughters, Dalma and Gianinna, 'robbed' and 'abandoned' their father in his final years.

The saga regarding Maradona's will is ongoing as his next of kin battle it out for the assets he left behind following his death.

"If Diego wakes up and reproaches me for something, it's that I didn't take care of letting [his ex-partner] Rocio [Oliva] into the wake," Morla said in an interview with America TV.

"He loved Rocio and was fighting to the death with Dalma and Gianinna; he felt betrayed and robbed. I am the one who was with Maradona for seven new years and seven Christmases looking at the phone and nobody called him."

"Didn't you see how outraged Diego was when Dalma called her daughter Roma? Diego has a special bond with Naples, the opposite of Roma.

"Except for the sisters they all left him alone. Maradona was abandoned, he died alone."

Morla also assured that Diego Maradona may have had problems with addictions, but he wasn't insane.

Dalma and Gianinna Maradona accused Morla of being responsible for the assembly of the medical team that is being investigated for alleged negligence in care.

"If Maradona came back to life he wouldn't allow them to attack me," Morla insisted.

"When he died he said that they were the thieves. With the sisters we were his guests, not thieves.

"The girls don't like me since we cut off their credit cards in June 2014. They fought because they stole from him."

Maradona's lawyer and friend, who was his 'most trusted man' in recent years, said that the 1986 World Cup champion did not see alcohol as "something fun" but rather an escape route from his love problems.

"The fact that Rocio left him and the situation that he was in love with a woman that didn't love him hurt," Morla concluded.
