Liam Gallagher has hammered the England national squad for their version of the national anthem ahead of taking on Albania.

The Three Lions managed to nick a 1-0 lead going into half time of the World Cup qualifier in eastern Europe.

It was not exactly a thrilling half for fans to watch, with just six shots on goal between the two teams and two on target.

But Gallagher was left less-than-impressed with the side's lack of effort in the national anthem before kick-off.

The former Oasis star wrote on Twitter: "Some stellar voices in the England sqaud!"

And the 48-year-old was not alone in his thinking on the football stars' rendition of "God Save The Queen".

"Hopefully they play with more passion that what they sang that with," one fan said.

Another commented: "So dull, it's depressing."

While a third held nothing back, with: "Embarrassing listening to the England team singing the national anthem."

And a fourth sarcastically added: "Could see the passion in that national anthem... goosebumps - said nobody English ever."

A fifth said: "No passion or pride from any of the England players then when signing the national anthem."

With a final supporter simply saying: "England players don't deserve to wear the shirts signing the national anthem like that. Pathetic."

England were struggling to find a way past their World Cup qualifier opponents before the 38-minute mark.

But captain Harry Kane managed to get ahead of the defenders for Luke Shaw's looping cross into the penalty box.

The Three Lions are looking to make it two wins from from two in their campaign for 2022's competition in Qatar.

Southgate secured victory in the first game of the qualifiers against San Marino, putting five goals past the world's lowest-ranked side according to FIFA.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin grabbed a brace either side of James Ward-Prowse and Raheem Sterling's efforts before Ollie Watkins stuck on his debut.
