Club vs Country
This summer is going to provide football fans with a feast of football, so if we aren't able to travel abroad, lovers of the beautiful game can console ourselves with the sheer numbers of games on the horizon.
The Champions League Final will take place on the 29th of May, and, less than two weeks later, the rescheduled Euro 2020 tournament begins on the 11th of June, running for a full month. Then, from the 21st of July until the 7th of August, we have the Olympic under-23 tournament.
News was forthcoming earlier today, meanwhile, that the 2021/22 Premier League season will kick off on the 14th of August.
The rules of the Olympic football tournament state that three players over the age of 23 can be included in any country's squad, with a number of high-profile stars potentially set to be called up.
Chelsea' Christian Pulisic said yesterday that he would like to represent the USA, and there may well be a few club vs country rows on the horizon.
France 24 have reported that Egypt want Liverpool's Mohamed Salah to be in their Olympic squad:

Egyptian King
Egypt coach Shawky Gharib explained to AFP that Salah is ready to add significant weight behind the country's quest for a first-ever Olympic Football medal:
"I have made it public that I'd like to have him on board in our Olympic campaign and he hasn't refused. which means he also wants to play for us.
"Salah's participation in the Olympics is endorsed by the state, represented by the Sports Ministry and the Egyptian Football Association, in our concerted effort to garner an Olympic medal in football for the first time."
A final decision on the man whom the Anfield faithful serenade as the Egyptian King will be made amongst the player, coach Jurgen Klopp and Gharib himself.
"Salah, as one of the three best players internationally, will lift the Pharoahs to a whole new level in the Olympics."
" His presence with us will make a huge difference."
Whilst Liverpool have struggled this season, Salah remains the Premier League's top scorer, and it is likely that Klopp will want him available for the start of next season. Unlike so many others from the English top-flight, though, not lining out at the European Championships will see Salah handed a much needed rest at the end of the current campaign.
