Messi attempts to leave Barcelona

Lionel Messi's future has of course been a major talking point in the world of football for some time now.

Following Barcelona's hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League last season, Messi attempted to depart the Camp Nou via a clause in his contract.

However, after months of back and forth, the Argentine eventually opted to stay put for 2020/21.

But, despite being set to see out the remainder of the campaign with Barca, Messi's future beyond the summer remains uncertain.

Barcelona yet to receive offer for Messi

Two of the teams most heavily linked with the veteran attacker over the last year or so have been Manchester City and PSG.

Both are of course very well-backed from a financial standpoint, with City also boasting the lure of Pep Guardiola – the man who arguably oversaw Messi's finest football of his career.

As things stand, though, it doesn't appear as though either outfit have made a concrete offer for the Argentine.

Speaking about Messi last month, Ronald Koeman insisted that the forward is 'happy':

"Well, we know that Leo is a decisive player. He has been for many years, he is very concentrated. He's excited, he's happy and he's been very effective in front of goal.

And, as per a further update from ESPN on Monday, Messi has not yet received an offer from another club to leave Barcelona.

It is added that the 33-year-old is set to wait until the end of the season to decide whether or not to renew his contract with Barca, or look elsewhere for a new adventure:
