Barcelona's new enemy: The PSG player who called Messi

A long time has passed since the days when Neymar was putting smiles on the faces of Barcelona fans and now he may have become public enemy number one.

The Brazilian star is said to have called Lionel Messi in an attempt to persuade the Argentine to join him at PSG.

According to L'Equipe in France, Neymar personally made the call and told the Argentine "you have to come" and explained to him what it is like to live in Paris and be a part of PSG's project.

It's no secret that Neymar is dreaming of a reunion with his former teammate, stating his desire publicly a few months ago.

"I'd love to play with Messi again, what I want the most is to enjoy playing with him on the pitch again," he said after facing Manchester United in the Champions League.

"I want to play with him again. Surely next year we'll have to do it."

At the time, Neymar's words sparked rumours that either he was hoping to rejoin Barcelona or that Messi was off to Paris, but now his intentions seem a little clearer and Blaugrana fans won't be impressed with their former idol.

Meanwhile, new Barcelona president Joan Laporta will attempt to persuade Messi to remain at the Camp Nou, with arguments which could involve the likes of Sergio Aguero and Erling Haaland.
