Works at new Bernabeu speed up in order to welcome fans in September

The construction work at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is moving along nicely, albeit it will be between 18 and 21 months before it is completely finished.

Although there is visible progress both inside and outside the stadium, the project isn't even halfway completed yet, and the construction company and the club have both said work could be finished somewhere between September 2022 and January 2023. There is no doubt that the absence of fans due to the pandemic has accelerated the speed of the works.

More than 700 workers are working daily to make sure the stadium is ready for when fans will be allowed back to football matches. LaLiga and UEFA have said that next season could see the return of supporters to games, and Real Madrid want to have their new stadium ready to receive them.

Important steps will be taken over the coming weeks such as the installation of the enormous new retractable roof, new parking facilities and the installation of new seating.
