The stock of Kylian Mbappe has risen considerably after his slaying of Barcelona in the Champions League, and while Real Madrid have been long term admirers of the Frenchman, Liverpool have emerged as contenders for his signature.
Mbappe's contract with Paris Saint-Germain is up in 2022 and the French club have put a 200 million euro price tag on his head, should he decide not to sign a new contract.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are Real Madrid's main rivals to sign Mbappe and can best accommodate his financial demands. However, Los Blancos have an ace card up their sleeve in Cristiano Ronaldo.
The money needed to sign Mbappe puts Real Madrid at a huge disadvantage, and it's reported that Florentino Perez will try and tempt the striker with Cristiano Ronaldo's No.7 shirt.
It is well known that Mbappe is a huge admirer of Cristiano, and Florentino hopes that the emotional pull of following in his idols footsteps will give Real Madrid the edge over their competitors.
When Mbappe was just 12 years old he fulfilled a dream of meeting Cristiano at Valdebebas, and since then has held a desire to play for Real Madrid.
