Adele has made a special appearance at Chorley’s FA Cup game against Wolves - but it is not what you’d expect.

The nine-time Brit Award singer has been synonymous with the Lancashire-based side’s run from the second qualifying round of the world’s oldest cup tournament.

It is because the 32-year-old’s song “Someone Like You”, which was her first British No.1 10 years ago, is sung by the squad after their wins.

The video from their last FA Cup win, which came against Wayne Rooney’s Derby in the third round, went viral with 8.4million views on Twitter.

Adele even responded to the clip with a heart emoji on, despite famously posting just once a year on the social media site since 2018.

“Doesn't she look good in Magpie stripes?”

The club even tried reaching out to Adele, asking the 32-year-old for a duet on her most famous song.

And it has seen Chorley’s manager Jamie Vermiglio promise to sing the song in a Donald Duck voice if they manage to beat Wolves.

The club play their football in the National League North, currently sitting ninth - and 111 places below tonight’s opposition.

It is not the first time in the campaign they have enjoyed a giant-killing, though, after beating Championship team Derby 2-0 in the third-round.

Victories over Gateshead and York City put them into a fourth qualifying round tie against Macclesfield - but the team’s liquidation put Chorley into the first proper round of the cup.
