Fluminense boss claims Chelsea's Thiago Silva keen on Brazil return: 'He wants it a lot'

Thiago Silva's Chelsea stint

Thiago Silva, of course, joined Chelsea over the summer on a free transfer after his PSG contract expired last year.

The Brazilian, despite his age, has gone on to prove a solid signing for the Blues.

Granted, he does now lack the pace we once saw in the stopper. But his experience seems to have had a really positive impact on the Londoners.

Kurt Zouma, for example, has come on leaps and bound this season, forming a solid partnership with Silva.

And though Chelsea's recent form has declined, it is hard to argue Silva is still not one of Chelsea's best centre-backs at present.

Thiago Silva to return to Brazil?

Silva's current Chelsea deal only runs until the end of this season, which isn't surprising given he is 36.

But there were reports that Chelsea have the option for an extra year – an offer they could well look to take up.

However, it seems as though at least one other club looks to have an interest in the veteran defender.

Before making the move to Europe in 2009, Silva was plying his trade in his home country with Fluminense.

Now, Fluminense's current boss has recently been speaking about the possibility of the Chelsea man returning to his old club.

Marcão, who has actually played with Silva during his time in Brazil, stated that Silva wants a return to the club 'a lot':

"I think so. I'm sure the president will organise the club. And I'm sure that we'll have the captain here with us. We'll do everything to bring the captain. He wants it a lot."
