Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Declan Rice.

West Ham star Declan Rice has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea with Frank Lampard desperate to land the midfielder. Former Blues defender William Gallas has told the Hammers ace to make the move to Stamford Bridge to take his game to the next level.

Former Chelsea defender Gallas has told West Ham midfielder Rice to make the move to the Blues for the sake of his career.

Lampard has made the England international a top target this season but the Hammers have resisted letting him go just yet.

Chelsea have made further inquiries this month but there is no way David Moyes would allow his departure in the middle of the season.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form this campaign and is arguably the club's most important player.

Lampard is desperate to snatch up the 21-year-old, who was released by Chelsea at the age of 14.

West Ham have rejected all bids for Rice with them valuing him at close to £80m.

But Gallas has told Rice to take matters into his own hands and make the move to Chelsea in the summer to take his career to the next step.

He told PlayOJO: "He’s a good player, for his age, he’s unbelievable.

"Very strong and technically, he’s almost got everything.

"For me, he has to leave West Ham to get to the next level because he could be a top-class player.

"To be a top-class player, he has to train everyday alongside top-class players which is why for me he has to leave West Ham next season.

"He looks like he has a strong personality, I think he would be a good signing for Chelsea."
