PSG might not have the budget to sign Messi

Leo Messi appears to be happy once again as he has entered a good run of form with Barcelona, but speculation over his future continues to roll on with Paris Saint-Germain keen.

The Argentine's contract expires in five months and is now free to negotiate with other clubs, but while no transfer fee will be required for the No.10, his wages could prove a stumbling block even for the mega rich clubs of Europe.

PSG are known to be determined to reunite Messi with Neymar, and have an all-star front three completed by Kylian Mbappe.

However, French journalist Julien Laurens has stated that the Ligue 1 champions' budget will not allow them to sign the Argentine.

"With Financial Fair Play, the pandemic and how much PSG have been affected like all other big clubs, I don't know how, just at the payroll level, you could have Neymar, let's say on 30 million euros a year, Messi on 60 million euros a year and Mbappe potentially with a new contract on the same amount as Neymar," Laurens told the Sky Sports podcast Transfer Talk.

"Only those three would be around 150 million euros, just their salaries, every year.

"Financially, it's not possible. But they seem to say that they are going to try. But I don't think it's realistic."
