Real Madrid boss Zidane named Miguel Munoz trophy winner

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has been named the winner of the Miguel Munoz Trophy.

It is awarded by MARCA to the best coach in LaLiga Santander for 2019/20.

The Frenchman, who shares the trophy this year with Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui, guided Real Madrid to a first LaLiga Santander title in three seasons.

Los Blancos returned from lockdown in June with work to do in the title race, but they won 10 of their last 11 LaLiga Santander games to pip Barcelona to the crown.

"I didn't tell [my players] much after lockdown," Zidane admitted, "because what the players wanted to do was get back to playing football and they did it in spectacular fashion.

"I think they were hungry to finish the league [season] and finish it as champions and that's what they did. This award is completely for them."

This season, Real Madrid have begun the campaign in inconsistent form but are still in the hunt to win the title again, though Zidane is positive in his outlook for the rest of the LaLiga Santander campaign.

"What we can replicate is the effort," Zidane added. "Believing in what we're doing and nothing more. The rest is a consequence.

"If we give our all on the pitch, then we can achieve things because we're very good."
