Manchester United hero Gary Neville has lashed out at Mino Raiola for claiming that Paul Pogba is ‘finished’ at Old Trafford on the eve of their Champions League showdown against RB Leipzig

Manchester United hero Gary Neville has called on Paul Pogba to correct his agent Mino Raiola.

Raiola has taken part in an interview in which he states that his client is finished at Old Trafford.

However, it is not an average matchday with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side set to be knocked out of the Champions League should they lose to RB Leipzig in Germany on Tuesday.

Neville has now questioned Pogba’s potential involvement in the interview, and revealed his anger at not only the bombshell but the timing of it.

He wrote on Twitter on Monday: “Raiola - It’s happened many times before. However surely Paul knew he was making this announcement?

"If he wasn’t aware then we should see a quote from him very soon correcting his agent. Finally to do this ahead of Leipzig and the Man Derby is terrible timing for the Team.”

In an interview with Tuttosport, Raiola said: “Paul at Manchester United is unhappy, he is no longer able to express himself as he would like and as expected of him.

"He has to change teams, he has to change the air.

"It has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I think the best solution for the parties is to sell it to the next market.

"Otherwise, the Old Trafford club, with whom relations are excellent, knows well that they would risk losing him on a free transfer, given that for the moment it is not the player's intention to extend the contract.

"If someone doesn't understand it, ergo they understand very little about football.

"In any case, let them blame me if Paul leaves next summer.”

The chat comes after Pogba scored a vital long-range goal in the win over West Ham, following which he praised the team's performance by saying: “We played. We play how we love to play football.

"Remember against Leipzig, when we played, when we scored the goals in the second half it was the same. It was two touch, two touch, one touch.

"The goal of Rashy was one-touch football. It was beautiful. That’s what we are, we have the quality to do that, and we have to do it from the start.

"There are so many chances, we conceded, it was hard for us in the first half and we showed character in the second half and that’s what we have to remember.”

Solskjaer is expected to address the comments ahead of the clash against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
