Gary Lineker received a nasty surprise on his 60th birthday by stepping in some dog poo while out shopping.

The Ex-England international has enjoyed success both on and off the football pitch, winning the 1986 Golden Boot before becoming Match of the Day host.

Scoring nearly 300 goals in over 500 appearances, the man celebrating his 60th birthday has regularly shared his opinions on the current game.

But images have emerged of Lineker finding a birthday surprise on the end of his foot.

Stepping out of a shop while clutching a bag for life, the broadcaster can be seen wearing a big black coat, grey tracksuit bottoms and some trainers with a white sole.

And a brown mark can be seen on the front of his right shoe, which soon catches the new sexagenarian’s attention.

Lineker leans down to inspect his shows, looking unhappy at finding the mess on his trainers.

He will be hoping for better luck tonight when former clubs Leicester, Tottenham and Everton discover their fate in the FA Cup third round draw.

The BT Sport presenter is enjoying some down time after a busy week in the footballing world.

He was one of the first to pay tribute to Diego Maradona, who passed away after suffering a heart attack at the same age, on social media.

Writing to his 7.7m followers, Lineker said: "Reports from Argentina that Diego Armando Maradona has died.

"By some distance the best player of my generation and arguably the greatest of all time.

“After a blessed but troubled life, hopefully he’ll finally find some comfort in the hands of God. #RipDiego".

Lineker was on BT Sport the same night – and took the chance to share an incredible story about the time he shared the pitch with Maradona.
