Neymar 'stays' at Barcelona

Neymar has never completely dissociated himself from Barcelona mainly due to his open legal cases with the club as well as the Blaugrana's reported interest to bring him back to Catalonia every summer since his departure to Paris Saint-Germain.

Three years have passed since the Ligue 1 side triggered Neymar's buyout clause to make him the most expensive football transfer of all-time back in 2017.

Back in June, a court ruled in Barcelona's favour in their legal battle with Neymar over a loyalty bonus, as the Brazilian demanded that the club pay him 43.6 million euros before his move to PSG.

The PSG forward was ordered by the court to pay 6.7m euros to his former club, while at the end of last year, Neymar also claimed 3.5m euros in unpaid wages, but the court dismissed the complaint.

Meanwhile, Neymar reportedly filed an appeal, though his representatives, over the ruling in June that saw him having to pay 6.7m euros to Barcelona.

Unlikely ReturnNeymar has been linked with a move back to Barcelona several times. In every transfer window, his name appears amongst the club's transfer priorities although PSG have made it clear that their star is not for sale.

At this moment his return to the Camp Nou seems unfeasible, as Barcelona are going through a serious financial crisis due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19, which has led to a significant drop in income.

Meanwhile, no agreement was concluded over the matter of salary cuts for Barcelona players last Wednesday, the day that had been set as the deadline to reach a solution. However, an extension has been granted in order for the squad to study a new proposal.
