Tottenham star Gareth Bale is known for his love of golf – and this was used in a prank on team-mate Sergio Reguilon who believed that putting greens has been made “just for him” at their Hotspur Road training facility

Tottenham star Sergio Reguilon admitted to being duped in a Gareth Bale golf prank, believing that the Welshman had been given golfing holes at the training facility “just for him”.

The Spaniard arrived with the Spurs hero over the summer, making a £27.5m move from Real Madrid.

It saw him follow the forward, who has made his return to north London on loan seven years after an £85m transfer to the Bernabeu.

Bale was known for his love of golf during his time in Spain – but hit the headlines over it for the wrong reason when it featured on a flag after Wales secured qualification for Euro 2021.

And his passion led to the forward’s former Madrid team-mate believing that Spurs had made a special space for him at training.

Speaking to BT Sport , Reguilon said: “He’s very happy and I see him in a different light. He seems happier with the habits here.

"What did surprise me is that they’ve created golf holes for him at the training centre.

"They are only short holes but I couldn’t believe it. He didn’t do badly at Real Madrid and I’ve no idea if he’ll go back.

"The language and communication are everything to him. His Spanish is good, well, it’s like my English.”

While there are 30m putting greens at Hostpur Way, they have been there since the training facility was built in 2012.

Bale scored his first goal since returning to the club in a 2-1 win over Brighton, heading in from six yards out to grab the winner.

It means Jose Mourinho’s side are now third in the Premier League table after seven games, two points off leaders Liverpool.

The Welshman’s first goal back at Spurs saw the Portuguese manager take a cheeky dig at Madrid following the win.

It comes as fans also did their bit to help Bale pursue his passion of golf by pointing out clubs around their training facility.
