Reports have suggested that three Barcelona players didn't want to be part of the rejection of a new pay deferral. The Catalan club are looking to cut more costs this autumn as the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact their finances.
A few days ago, RAC1 reported that members of the Barcelona first team squad and academy sent a burofax to the club's board to reject the new offer of a wage defferal.
However, Catalunya Radio have now said that three players didn't agree with their teammates and decided against signing the document. According to TDT in Catalonia, those three players were Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong and Clement Lenglet.
Barcelona made losses of 200 million euros last season as a result of the pandemic causing matches to go behind closed doors. The economic crisis generated by COVID-19 has also hit merchandise sales for every football club.
The latest measures Barcelona want to put in place are wage deferrals, which means the players will receive their earnings at a later date, rather than losing a percentage of their salary like the previous cut.
