REVEALED: Why Arsenal manager Arteta wants Saliba loan
Posted Monday, October 12, 2020 by Tribalfootball.com
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes William Saliba is not ready for Premier League football.
Saliba spent last season on loan at St. Etienne after Arsenal paid £27m for his signature in 2019.
It was expected that the 19-year-old would feature this season after impressing in Ligue 1.
But Arteta is not convinced Saliba is ready for England's top-flight.
ESPNhas revealed Arteta wants the Frenchman to work on defending set-pieces and mature in style, such as avoiding diving into tackles.
Watford and Brentford have both put their hands up to sign Saliba on loan for the 2020/21 season.
Saliba is still highly rated at the Emirates, but he will now continue his development at another club as Arteta looks to push Arsenal higher up the table.
