West Ham make £17m transfer bid as David Moyes closes in on Felipe Anderson replacement

West Ham were relatively quiet in the summer transfer window in regards to incomings.

West Ham are looking to utilise the domestic transfer window being open until October 17 by targeting a move for Said Benrahma and a £17million bid has reportedly been made to Brentford. Hammers fans were left frustrated on deadline day after seeing the club fail to bring in any more new recruits.

They moved quickly early in the summer to make Tomas Soucek's loan move from Slavia Prague permanent.

And they raided the Czech Republic side again later in the window by bringing in Vladimir Coufal to provide cover on the right-side of defence.

But that's all the business West Ham were able to get done before the close of the European transfer window on Monday.

There were already frustrations among Hammers fans, and even captain Mark Noble, after the club agreed to sell promising young talent Grady Diangana to West Brom.

A number of fringe players were also allowed to leave while Felipe Anderson signed for Porto on a season-long loan.

The Brazilian had barely featured for West Ham in their opening four Premier League matches, with David Moyes opting go with an attacking trio of Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals.

And the decision has been justified in West Ham's two impressive wins over Leicester and Wolves before the international break.

But Anderson's departure still leaves the West Ham boss short of options in the wide positions.

Andriy Yarmolenko and Robert Snodgrass seemingly don't feature in Moyes' long-term plans and West Ham have now been left with trying to sign another attacker in the domestic window.

And they have now moved forward with a bid to try and sign Benrahma from Brentford.

According to 90min, West Ham sent an offer of £17m plus add-ons in a fresh bid to bolster Moyes' attacking line.

The Algerian was part of the impressive 'BMW' front three at Brentford last season as he scored 17 goals in the league.

However, that attacking line-up has already been broken up with Aston Villa paying £30m to sign Ollie Watkins in the summer.

And now Brentford face a battle on their hands to keep hold of Benrahma.

The Bees are said to be holding out for £25m and haven't given a response to West Ham's offer.

The Hammers have also been strongly linked with a move to sign Bournemouth striker Josh King.
